Night of Vision 2023 Recap

Night of Vision Recap

Nine partner churches and two potential partner churches came together for our 2023 Night of Vision on November 3. God blessed us with more than $25,000 in donations and pledges!

It was a night of fun, learning more about and dreaming for the future of Love INC of Greater Hillsboro.

In keeping with our word of the year, “KNOWN,” this year’s theme was, “Step into the Spotlight.”

The red carpet rolled out as guests arrived and enjoyed a selfie station, appetizers, a Ministry Fair “Walk of Fame,” a 50/50 raffle and a silent auction.

The program began with a  focus on getting to know Love INC better, spotlighting Love INC of Greater Hillsboro with a trivia quiz.

Next on the program was how we are “Making Christ and His church better known” with a spotlight on churches and volunteers.

A panel of volunteers, led by Board Vice President Dwight Johnson, shared how Love INC is “making Christ and His church better known.” The panel included Clearinghouse/Call Center volunteer Dawn Forrest, Restoring Hope volunteer class facilitator Brent Lince, Board President Lila Young and Financial donor Jack Burgess.

The final spotlight was on neighbors with needs and class participants as we are “helping people feel known.” We shared our six core principles of Redemptive Compassion. Redemptive Compassion® is a biblical philosophy on how we can offer wholistic help to those we serve.

The Pat Brown Award for Excellence in Volunteer Service winner was…

Lesley Weichbrodt of Bethlehem Lutheran Church!

Lesley’s willing to go out of her way to get things done. She is very on top of things and helps keep us accountable in the Clearinghouse, even though she doesn’t serve in the Clearinghouse. She leads a Gap Ministry and serves as her church liaison.

Love INC of Greater Hillsboro has the best volunteers!

A Lifetime Achievement Award was presented to Carol Shafer.  Carol is the founding Executive Director of Love INC. After 14 years of faithful service, Carol retired this past summer.

There was a live auction which included a two night’s stay for up to six people at a Cannon Beach condo, two Alaska Airlines coach tickets to anywhere that Alaska flies to in the United States and two University of Oregon Autzen Club football tickets for the 2024 – 2025 season.

Thank you ...

Thank you to Trinity Lutheran Church and their pastor Steve Nickodemus, for hosting our event; to Dan Elsner of Matchless Lighting by Design who provided décor and platform lighting, to those who donated items for the live and silent auctions and to the many Gap Ministry leaders who shared in the Walk of Fame, as well as all those volunteers who helped with set up, decorations, and all that went into making Night of Vision 2023 a success. We’re thankful for God’s provision of two Thrivent Grants as well.
