Night of Vision 2024 Recap

Night of Vision Recap

On November 8, approximately 176 people including Love INC of Greater Hillsboro staff and volunteers, individuals from partner and potential partner churches, as well as business sponsors, came together for our 2024 Night of Vision. God blessed us with more than $32,000 in donations and pledges!

It was a night of fun, learning more about and dreaming for the future of Love INC of Greater Hillsboro.

In keeping with our word of the year for 2024, “WITH,” this year’s theme was, “Working Hand in Hand.”

Guests arrived and enjoyed a “High Five Ministry Fair,” a 50/50 raffle, a silent auction and “Menu by Marylou” appetizers.

Appetizers

Board Member Mike Ware from Hillsboro First Baptist was our emcee this year.

The program began with a review of 2024 and how we worked “hand in hand” with God, Christ and the Holy Spirit, which included sharing our mission and values.

In 2024, we worked “hand in hand” with our churches, donors and supporters. We have 16 church partners, many of which we were able to visit on their Mission Sundays and other events. Our donors and supporters were vital to our successful annual Golf event.

Love INC works “hand in hand” with volunteers, class facilitators and Gap Ministries. This year we have already had over 1,500 volunteer hours from 18 different churches! Our class facilitators have led two classes this year, and our eight Gap Ministries work tirelessly to help fill the gaps in services. This year, to date, over 200 households have been served by Love INC of Greater Hillsboro.

In 2024, Love INC worked “hand in hand” with agencies, neighbors and class participants. We were blessed to host a Church Community Conversation with 22 leaders from partner and non-partner local churches about Loving Our Unhoused Neighbor.

Love INC of Greater Hillsboro has been blessed with many opportunities throughout the year to be with our community in various ways. For a complete review of the year, please visit Being “With” Our Community.

Pat Brown Award

Each year the Pat Brown Award for Excellence in Volunteer Service is awarded. This year it was given to Erin Sansom from City Gate Church.

Erin started with Love INC as an intern in 2012, then served as a board member. After a short break, she returned as a volunteer and is now volunteering as the interim Clearinghouse Coordinator.

Thank you Erin for your dedication and service!

We enjoyed a short pantomime at the Love INC Storytime Theatre, led by Jennifer DuBay, of Helvetia Community Church. Volunteers were recruited from the crowd to act out the drama as Jennifer read the story based on the Good Samaritan. The drama demonstrated Love INC’s giving a hand up, not a just hand out.

A Neighbor's Story

Jolene shared a story from Carla who was unable to attend due to illness.

Carla’s story is one of dreams unfulfilled, difficult domestic circumstances, homelessness, and finally a referral to Love INC. From neighbor in need to classes, to now volunteering, Carla said of herself, “This neighbor is so appreciative of your help; more than I can ever express in words.”

Read more of Carla’s story.

Live Auction

Dana Fryer of Harvest Community Church served as the auctioneer for our live auction. The auction included

  • A two night’s stay for up to six people at a Cannon Beach condo
  • Two Alaska Airlines coach tickets to anywhere that Alaska flies to in the United States, valued up to $2,000
  • Two University of Oregon Autzen Club football tickets for the 2025 – 2026 season, including access to the Club area at Autzen with private concession stands, restrooms and Duck Store
  • A one-and-a-half to two hour private plane excursion
    Themed baskets and quilts

Thank you ...

Thank you to Bethlehem Lutheran Church for hosting our event; to Menu by Marylou, to those who donated items for the live and silent auctions and to the many Gap Ministry leaders who shared in the High Five Ministry Fair, as well as all those volunteers who helped with set up, decorations, and all that went into making Night of Vision 2024 a success. We’re thankful for God’s provision of a Thrivent Grant as well.
